"I would have been 1952 or 1953 when the old track were still in it's original place. I know that there had already been the widening of the land where the east/west leg was going to be. This was what was so unique. Graded dirt on both sides as far as the eye could see and train tracks in the middle with the very small covered sitting area with the name markers of Berclair on each end. It contained seats. Not many. Painted green and yellow. I think that this was more for the night time "milk train". It stopped at ever little hole in the wall. This was right on the Perkins road crossing." John Arnold
"There was a significant realignment of part of this route for the construction of the ill fated I-40. It was sometime in the 70's this was done. There were grade crossings at Mendenhall, Perkins, and White Station Roads. The grade crossing at Highland used to have a unique warning signal. In addition to the regular flashers, it had the letters S-T-O-P in individual lights arranged vertically on the mast. These would light up when the flashers were activated." Steve Forrest
See track realignment located between west of Berclair and I-240 Expressway for new Sam Cooper Blvd. circa 1970.
